The Outpost Mobile Food Center The Outpost is a traveling food pantry that provides support to remote and rural communities in need. This program is operated by the UCAN Food Bank. Our trailer is equipped with a freezer and a cooler, and it is stocked with shelf-stable items organized on metal racks.
We are always looking for volunteers to help load the trailer and assist with the warehouse portion of the Mobile Pantry.
Volunteer Positions:
1. Inventory Stocker: Assist in organizing food in the warehouse and placing items on shelves. This role requires lifting, stooping, standing, and moving boxes from pallets to the shelves for storage.
2. Trailer Cleaning Assistant: Help clean the trailer by washing the floors and cleaning the coolers and freezers. Duties also include mopping, sweeping, and detailing the trailer for our next travel date.
3. Food Inspector: Use your love for organizing to inspect our food supplies, ensuring we maintain proper utility control and adhere to a first-in-first-out system.
Volunteer Availability:
This application is for individuals interested in providing support with warehouse operations and assisting with the back end of the mobile pantry. Please choose a pantry shift that fits your availability. Generally, our warehouse operates during normal business hours from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, but shifts can be flexible.
