The Food Donation Organizer plays a crucial role in ensuring that donated food is efficiently managed, organized, and prepared for distribution to local pantries and meal programs. Help us sort, categorize, and ensure the quality of food donations to maintain smooth and organized operations at the food bank. Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and categorize donated food by type, expiration date, and condition to ensure quality and safety.
- Inspect food donations for damage or expiration, discarding any unsuitable items.
- Assist in preparing food packages or boxes for distribution to local partner organizations.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe sorting area according to food safety standards.
- Track inventory and report any shortages or discrepancies to the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to ensure an efficient and effective sorting process.
- Participate in special food sorting or packing events as needed.
