Volunteer: PIT Count Roving TeamJoin UCAN and community partners in helping gather critical information about homelessness in our community. The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a nationwide effort that takes place each January to identify and better understand people experiencing homelessness. As a Roving Team Volunteer, you’ll help ensure everyone is counted by visiting outdoor and remote areas where individuals may be unsheltered. Responsibilities: Work as part of a small mobile team to conduct surveys with individuals experiencing homelessness. Travel to identified outdoor locations, encampments, and other community spaces. Engage respectfully with participants, explaining the purpose of the count and ensuring confidentiality. Distribute basic supplies or resource materials as directed. Accurately record data using paper or digital forms. Volunteers may drive their own car or partner with UCAN staff to travel alongside them. Volunteers are required to arrive at the St. Joseph Catholic Church at 8:00am to participate in a training and pick up supplies before breaking off in teams to cover outreach across Douglas County.
